AHC Booking

If you’re planning to travel from Great Britain to the EU or Northern Ireland with your dog, cat or ferret, you’ll need a valid Animal Health Certificate (AHC). An AHC confirms that your pet meets the health and vaccination requirements for travel.

What your pet needs before an AHC

To issue an AHC, your pet must:

  • Be microchipped

  • Have a valid rabies vaccination

    • This must be given after the microchip is implanted.

    • Your pet must wait 21 days after their first rabies vaccination before they can travel.

    • Boosters do not require a 21-day wait, as long as they are kept up to date.

An AHC must be issued within 10 days of your date of travel, and is valid for entry into the EU, then onward travel within the EU for up to 4 months, plus re-entry into the UK.

How our AHC appointments work

Once we’ve confirmed that your pet meets all the requirements, we’ll prepare the certificate ready for your appointment. At the appointment, a vet will check your pet’s microchip and complete the final sections of the AHC with you present.
Up to 5 pets can travel on a single AHC.
